Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle treatments are injected beneath the skin to eliminate wrinkles by relaxing the muscles of the face.

This treatment helps to improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth, at the corners of the eyes (“crow’s feet”), and on the horizontal forehead lines and vertical “frown” lines between the eye brows.

Treating these muscles with injections prevents them from working so hard that they create severe static lines. Static lines are when they become apparent even when no expression is made. It is possible to prevent lines becoming permanent as we age – the lines cannot appear if we don’t constantly crease our skin.

These treatments are safe and have been used on millions of patients worldwide, however, if you are pregnant, taking certain medications, or have specific conditions, some treatments may not be right for you.

The safety profile of anti-wrinkle treatment is excellent and has been well documented in its use for over 20 years. It is an isolated, purified protein which temporarily relaxes the muscle. The effects last for 3 – 6 months. The muscles return to their original strength when not re-treated.

Men and women’s skin and facial expressions work in the same way and our treatments are available for men and women. All treatments are tailored for each individual and their wishes.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers and other injectable treatments are a quick and painless way to smooth the lines and wrinkles that occur naturally on the face due to ageing or exposure to environmental stressors.

How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal fillers are not used to relax muscles but to plump, hydrate, volumise, shape and contour the skin.

Dermal fillers can be used in a variety of ways. The production levels of collagen and elastin in our skin decreases when we reach our late 20’s and our skin is considered to be ageing from as early as when we are 30 years old. This is the same for both men and women.

The decreased levels of collagen and elastin mean the plumpness of our skin begins to slacken and volume decrease. If addressed early on it is much simpler to maintain the ‘apple’ of our cheeks, or the fullness of our lips. Treatments at Loy Dental Care always aim to create a natural look.

Dermal fillers can also be used to create a more defined cheek bone or chin for example. It can be used also to widen the lips.

For already permanent lines anti-wrinkle injections are used as a first choice, but if the line has become severe sometimes dermal filler is required to plump out lines which are visible even when the muscle is relaxed.

The dermal fillers which we use have undergone stringent clinical trials and have an excellent safety profile. They are all made of hyaluronic acid which is found in all living organisms and thus a natural product for treatment. Hyaluronic acid is a fine gel which binds elastin and collagen as well as absorbing up to 1,000 times its own weight in water which benefits the skin by adding moisture and volume to the tissues of the skin. Injected into the skin below the epidermal layer during a quick 15-minute procedure, the injection fills the deep creases that begin below the surface of the skin.

The result is smooth and revitalised skin, with results that can last up to a year depending on the amount used and to where it is injected. It is naturally broken down and absorbed by the body over this time.
